A  21  YO  graduate  hailing  from  Amafala  village  who  lives with her family of 11.  Having  realised  the potential of improved cook-stoves for her community, she applied for the role of a monitor with UUI. When selected,  her  biggest challenge  was to ensure that her community realized the advantages of the stoves just as she did. Reena was successful in in doing so and helped 160 households in 2 villages adopt the stoves over 6 months.

She  has  since  been  monitoring  the  usage  of  these  stoves  by  the  households  which  is  an essential component of the carbon financing model.  She also aids the households with servicing the stoves in case the need arises.

Reena recalls that she used to be a reticent person but the engagement with UUI has enabled her to gain self-confidence  and  earn  respect  of  her  community.  She  notes  that  playing  a role in the project has broadened her knowledge base,  provided her with some financial security  and  fulfilled her ambition of working with other women.

Reena continues to work with UUI in other capacities as well  and  aspires to become a teacher some day.
