Small and marginal farmers do not get the right price for their produce due to logistic, economic and information barrier – Less produce imply limited say in negotiation with the immediate trader, who largely deal in bulk. Given the shabby transportation facilities and unfair market mechanisms, the typical farmer finds himself in distress situations with dismal ROI for his produce.

UUI as a Farmer Producer Company ventured into the agri-procurement segment with the goal of providing fair price to the distressed farmers. We started small in collaboration with the village institutions set up by Seva Mandir and reached out to 500+ farmers procuring raw pulses at the APMC price nearest to their village.
The venture turned out to be even more successful with the engagement of our Women Entrepreneurs who showed tremendous resolve in reaching out to farmers in their respective villages and around.
With such efforts from our WEs and field staff, UUI has been able to reach out to 5000+ small and marginal farmers across 5 blocks in Udaipur district, procuring pulses and cereals from the farmers’ doorstep.
We have an in-house mill to process raw pulses into finished dal.
